Can't help feeling we've been...
....led up the garden path !!!

Thought the whole Idea and only reason to move to a new bigger stadium was to 'compete with the big boys', 'to bring in more finances for bigger and better players'. The only thing this move has done so far is line the pockets of the Daves.

After the dismal transfers last season (especially a 5th choice striker on loan) as our marquee signing, I really thought (stupid as it would be) that they would be straight in for some players early doors.
We've moved, we've got money in the bank, sonto compete with the so called big boys, we have to do big boy transfer bids.

Sorry, had a few drinks and just getting annoyed.......

Yep it will fulfil a dream I have of 5700 people singing at the top of their voices...

"DILDOS OUT!!!! " ;-)

Seriously though, if as it looks we are struggling again next season and another set of duds on the pitch being paraded as marguee and quality signings, it really is time to let your feelings known.

It actually has a good chance of influencing them as evidence so far suggests they have thin skins when it comes to criticism.

Anyone who took over the club would have been looking to take on the OS and get us there.
Too good an opportunity.

The fact we got such a good rental deal was good business but they were originally trying to buy it and it was only interference that prevented that. I would have been happier with us owning it and having licence to change and improve it as we wanted but that was not something they had control over.

It seems loads of clubs seem to have deep pockets and even the clubs in Europe seem to have masses of cash so it seems money is not the deal breaker.

Unless we can get the clubs profile higher by being in Europe regularly and attracting some genuine world class talent then it don't matter what money we have, we'll be no more attractive than West Brom.

We've missed two very good opportunities to progress under this manager and lost the only genuine world class player we had.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
in simple terms aren't a majority of us accepting we're spending enough in last several windows in comparison to those around us but seemingly pissing it up the wall?

if so then lets give them the next 2 windows to sort themselves out, if they fail lets make our views known inside the ground before matches kick off....when the games start get behind the lads even if its riddled with more dog shit signings?

"Not sure what Gold and Sullivan did wrong other than invest money and restructure the business onto a more sound financial footing"

Well apart from sell our home to move into an unsuitable rented Athletics stadium on the promise of it moving us to another level and then a year in to the move plead poverty.

Sir Alf
c£50m capital injection for 50 per cent of club. They later loaned the club a similar amount.

The loan makes sense. If other shareholders don't want to divest, or if G&S don't want to buy more equity, or if they own all the equity ..... they loan the money.

They can't just pump in working capital or pay down debt for free because non-contributing shareholders benefit off their capital injection.

Not sure what Gold and Sullivan did wrong other than invest money and restructure the business onto a more sound financial footing.

That's actually good to hear. Do you have the details? How many millions they have pumped in? I'm a tad lazy to look it up :-)

I agree with Op, disappointed to say so I had high hopes for the move, now thinking we may as well have stayed where we were.

Agree with the OP, full of promises but deliver very little.

Sir Alf

That's factually incorrect. Gold and Sullivan put considerable equity into the business, which was already highly leveraged.

Anybody we want at this club is going to look at all other options first, then and only then, they will sign. We are a third tier club so don't get your hopes up about players above our station coming here.

Problem is they ( the owners ) have not technically spent one penny on the club. Their wealth allowed them to secure the loans and debts. Everything is being paid off via TV money and ticket sales and future ticket sales.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
There is a lot of bad feeling toward the owners because the fans have been given a spit roasting by them.

The owners want glory for the club but not at their expense. HTH clarifies things for you.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
Our owners made their fortune selling low budget porn and merchandise. Did you honestly think they would give a shit about the fans of a football club?

It's a business, which you pay for. Simple

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
West Ham is not a club - it is a company. You lot are still treating it like a club - like it has some sort of responsibility to you. It hasn't - all you are is a customer to be harvested of what cash you have. Most of WHU's PL cash comes from supporters of MU/MC/Ars etc. through tv rights anyway, so why should WHU care more for WHU supporters than they do for MU supporters? I am sure that the stadium ticket sales do not give them the majority of their income! There aren't any actual clubs in the PL - I don't know how far down the leagues you need to go in order to find a real club; if you can. If you want to shout for a winning team, start supporting Chelsea - they'll care for you just as much as WHU does! Which is virtually not at all - but at least 'your' team will win something other than the 1966 world cup! :-)

Yeah even after losing our best world class player in Jan and 5 of our first team players out injured for most of the season I'd expected us to be in the top 4 last season.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
its taken you ths long to see through the bullshit?

it's their money so they can spend it how they like, the fans wanted the move and keep buying tickets so you've only got yourself to blame.

all about the money, always was and always will be with the berk bros.
